E + I&C commissioning of a new biomass plant in Belgium

Planta Biomasa Bélgica

ELECNOR has been awarded of the EPC contract to build a new biomass cogeneration plant in the Belgian city of Ghent. The plant is promoted by Gentse Warmte Centrale (GWC), a company formed by the Belgian Eco Energy (BEE) electricity company and the British Equitix fund.

The facility, located in a former coal terminal in the port of Ghent, will have an electricity generation capacity of 19.9 MW by burning locally sourced non-recycled demolition wood.
MMYPEM and QATRO will carry out the full scope start-up for ELECNOR: mechanics, operation, electricity and instrumentation and control.

The MMYPEM company, dedicated to mechanical assemblies and start-up, will be in charge of carrying out the mechanical and operating part in order to achieve, through joint collaboration, a correct operation of the plant. Both companies, QATRO & MMYPEM, have already collaborated together on previous projects.
